Toyota Logo Removed!

Written by Mike Rundle on October 19, 2006

As of yesterday the logo atop the website was removed. I don’t know if it’s down permanently or whether they’re removing it from their ad campaigns, but I’m really, really happy with the outcome. As I just mentioned at Business Logs I don’t have a legal team, I don’t have a fancy office, and I sure as hell don’t have (or want!) gigantic multi-national companies as clients, but I do have email, I do have my blog, and I do have 9rules, and I think the combination of those three is pretty darn powerful.

A big thanks to everybody for participating in the mashup contest, reading the entries, linking, digging, or just being on the sidelines and giving us support.

Hellz yeah! That is awesome. I am so glad to see that logo gone from their site! Viva la 9rules!

  3. Gleb Reys Says:

    Wehey!

Congratulations, Mike! It is a victory, and a quite impressive one given the fact you haven’t got a legal team and haven’t even started going this way.

All the best! The logo looks its best at the moment on your pages! :)

  4. Samir Says:

Once again, blogs restore [some] power to the people. Good work Mike.

  5. Michael Montgomery Says:

    Mike,
Good news, and I’m glad to hear it.

  6. Nolawi Says:

    darn powerful, i’m gonna agree!

  7. Devin Says:

Glad to hear it Mr. Rundle. So happy it worked out..

  8. Ayumi Says:

Wow! Trememdous! Never underestimate the power of the net (And common sense).

  9. Drew Says:

Yes, it is off the “page” but it isn’t off the Registration form…yet.

  10. milo Says:

Toyota is one of the largest Car companies in the world, IF the removal is done due to the big ballyhoo, then applause please.

  11. Carl Says:

The world of graphic design rests a little easier tonight.

Kudos on alerting the community and generating buzz. As a designer I couldn’t stomach the thought of stealing someone else’s idea. It’s just…wrong. With the pride inherent in creating a design of your own it would be like, I don’t know, someone else sleeping with your wife. It’s just wrong!

Have friends around in the blogosphere counts. Yeap!

[...] Pero, entonces ¿por qué ya no está en la página de Toyota Georgentown? ;) [...]

  14. ptvGuy Says:

I have this mental picture of someone at that design company getting a very unpleasant phone call from the people at Toyota and being ordered to take it down. I would so love to have been there to see that.

  15. Lelia Katherine Thomas Says:

I’m glad to see it removed. Rather interesting, too, considering how the person who wrote to you/9rules “couldn’t see the real similarity.”
