Toyota Logo Removed!
Written by Mike Rundle on October 19, 2006
As of yesterday the logo atop the website was removed. I don’t know if it’s down permanently or whether they’re removing it from their ad campaigns, but I’m really, really happy with the outcome. As I just mentioned at Business Logs I don’t have a legal team, I don’t have a fancy office, and I sure as hell don’t have (or want!) gigantic multi-national companies as clients, but I do have email, I do have my blog, and I do have 9rules, and I think the combination of those three is pretty darn powerful.
A big thanks to everybody for participating in the mashup contest, reading the entries, linking, digging, or just being on the sidelines and giving us support.

Wehey!
Congratulations, Mike! It is a victory, and a quite impressive one given the fact you haven’t got a legal team and haven’t even started going this way.
All the best! The logo looks its best at the moment on your pages!

Once again, blogs restore [some] power to the people. Good work Mike.

Yes, it is off the “page” but it isn’t off the Registration form…yet.

Toyota is one of the largest Car companies in the world, IF the removal is done due to the big ballyhoo, then applause please.

The world of graphic design rests a little easier tonight.
Kudos on alerting the community and generating buzz. As a designer I couldn’t stomach the thought of stealing someone else’s idea. It’s just…wrong. With the pride inherent in creating a design of your own it would be like, I don’t know, someone else sleeping with your wife. It’s just wrong!

[...] Pero, entonces ¿por qué ya no está en la página de Toyota Georgentown?

I have this mental picture of someone at that design company getting a very unpleasant phone call from the people at Toyota and being ordered to take it down. I would so love to have been there to see that.

I’m glad to see it removed. Rather interesting, too, considering how the person who wrote to you/9rules “couldn’t see the real similarity.”

Yeah, the logo is definitely back up. Guess they figured it’d been so long they could sneak it past you.

Thank you…here we go again! LOL
Would you believe we go through this every year? Every single year. I might write about it because this is ridiculous.
