Round 4 Update
Written by Scrivs on May 25, 2006
Next week we will be publishing a master list of all the sites that were accepted into Round 4 and after that we will start with the individual writeups on the sites. We figured it would be better this way since no one will have to wait weeks/months to see if they got in or not. So stay tuned.

Does this mean I should stop refreshing the 9 rules blog every few minutes until next week?
May 25th, 2006 at 2:01 pm
Nah, keep doing it, we like the pageviews.
May 25th, 2006 at 2:02 pm
*drum roll*
Looking forward to seeing the sites that made the cut, I’m sure there will be some gems in the mix. Good luck to all!
May 25th, 2006 at 2:25 pm
So does this mean that anybody who hasn’t received an email by now didn’t make it in?
May 25th, 2006 at 2:29 pm
Not at all, no emails have been sent out yet
May 25th, 2006 at 2:31 pm
Good luck to all of you 4th Rounders! I can’t wait to see the new blogs …
While you are waiting - especially all of you Religion Community hopefuls - feel free to jump on in and participate in this month’s “Ping Homily!” You get to write some good content AND you could win a great book! Drop by and kill some time while you wait for the results of Round 4. Oh, and this is an open invitation to everyone … regardless of religious affiliation (or lack thereof). It’s all about the conversation!!! C’mon over and participate!
May 25th, 2006 at 2:36 pm
good to know I’m not the only one refreshing the feed reader every 10 minutes…
May 25th, 2006 at 3:16 pm
I’m so nervous! I honestly have been refreshing a lot too
I’ve been checking back a lot!
May 25th, 2006 at 4:04 pm
Thanks for the update. Refreshing the same page several times a day was getting a little boring!
May 25th, 2006 at 4:06 pm
I’m glad I’m not the only one refreshing this page, even though I have your feed in my feedreader!
May 25th, 2006 at 4:23 pm
I’ve been refreshing like crazy too, glad to see an update. By next week do you mean like Monday?
That’d be nice, I don’t know If I can go through another week of school while I wait
May 25th, 2006 at 5:29 pm
This is just a guess shot in the dark, but I am guessing if we haven’t been visited by any of the 9r team from the submissions admin page, yes it comes up on Mint, that we can give up hope of being welcomed into the home that is 9rules.
Anyone wanna take me up on this idea? Scrivs? Colin? Mike?
May 25th, 2006 at 5:36 pm
Yeah, it would be interesting to know whether you guys visit all the submissions? Or base your visits on the descriptions sent in?
May 25th, 2006 at 6:30 pm
I’m obviously jumping the gun here but, considering I missed the entry deadline by a short couple hours. I was wondering if and when there will be a “round 5?”
May 25th, 2006 at 6:46 pm
I read everyday this blog, and guauu i hope that i can be one of the few lucky ones. So keep coming back, and good luck to all. Cm.
May 25th, 2006 at 6:56 pm
Scrivs - is there a particular count you guys are trying to select or a particular fit for one of the content communities. I can imagine that it’s quite a job reviewing all of the submissions and then making a decision.
May 25th, 2006 at 7:22 pm
Bryan - You won’t find me coming from there.
weisheng - I know what it is like to go thru the submission process, so I’m looking at every single site, regardless of what the description says.
May 25th, 2006 at 7:23 pm
Cool! Can’t wait to learn great blogs out there!
May 25th, 2006 at 7:31 pm
Refreshing? Bloggers don’t use RSS anymore?
May 25th, 2006 at 7:33 pm
Actually I think referrers have nothing to do with it. Most likely one of the 9ruler admins received a list of sites in their email. Clicking on the links from an email prog will not register a referrer.
May 25th, 2006 at 7:43 pm
I go through every single site so sooner or later you will see a referral from our admin page.
May 25th, 2006 at 7:44 pm
I can’t wait! Thanks for the update, Scrivs.
May 25th, 2006 at 7:46 pm
Dennis: No particular count at all. If we think your site is up to we let you in regardless of the current community size.
May 25th, 2006 at 7:47 pm
Is it too late for bribery?
May 25th, 2006 at 7:47 pm
Thanks to Tyme and Scrivs for the clarification. You’re dealing with a pack of ravenous wolves here all wanting more information every minute every day
May 25th, 2006 at 8:10 pm
This is probably the biggest excitement in my life before the World Cup of 2006. Good luck everyone!
May 25th, 2006 at 10:27 pm
I kept checking the RSS feed to see if you had posted the accepted entries (Refreshing pages is so pre-RSS hehehe). Thanks for the update. I’m quite excited to see the new entries.
May 25th, 2006 at 11:35 pm
Love to see who made it.
May 26th, 2006 at 12:56 am
How often do you have these rounds. Just curious.
I was kind of discouraged from submitting my blog this round because I didn’t hear word of it till last minute and because I got “rejected” [felt like a big stamp was put on my forehead! lol] last time I submitted my blog. :-S
Just curious how often you have these rounds… once a year maybe?
May 26th, 2006 at 3:39 am
I would so love to make it in, but I know the competition is very high. Still, you’ve only got one site that deals with books, so there’s room for more (she says hopefully)?
May 26th, 2006 at 5:04 am
If we don’t get in, and you’ve spent a short while looking around the site, if you could fire off an email saying what the problem areas or shortcomings are, it would be really useful
I realise it might be a bit of a time drain though, if you’ve got 700 sites to do.
May 26th, 2006 at 6:10 am
Sounds great! This must be extremely time consuming, yet rewarding work.
May 26th, 2006 at 6:45 am
im so excited, i hope i made it in

Thanks for the update!
I felt like I have been lost out in the wilderness for day!
May 26th, 2006 at 2:29 pm
I too haven’t done anything else lately, but refreshing my e-mail and the 9rules blog. I’ll keep biting my fingernails :0)
May 26th, 2006 at 6:36 pm
Wow. The suspense is building. Have you guys enlisted Ryan Seacrest to announce the winners since he’s not doing anything right now?
May 26th, 2006 at 11:54 pm
Jeff left that last comment left so well placed for the alley-oop that I gotta try and take it.
So does this mean that we have our judges?
Scrivs=Simon (all attitude)
Tyme=Paula (9rules cheerleader)
Mike=The white Randy (WHAT UP DAWG?! YO YO!) You’ve seen his dance moves folks.
hehe.
May 27th, 2006 at 9:11 am
After grepping some access logs I am starting to wonder if that submission at the start of round 4 went through afterall…
May 27th, 2006 at 10:43 am
Soul Patrol!
Good luck entrants.
May 27th, 2006 at 2:52 pm
Ah! The suspense is definitely killer.

9Rules Results Expected
The fourth round of 9Rules submissions, which ended on May 18th, is due to finalize it’s choices for network acceptance over the upcoming week. From 9rules’ blog:
“Next week we will be publishing a master list of all the sites that we…
May 30th, 2006 at 9:13 am
Wouldn’t it figure that I would get someone visiting my site from 9rules while I was testing something from an old template
May 30th, 2006 at 12:14 pm
I am excited, this beats the heck out of Christmas. Unlike Christmas, I don’t know if I get a present before the day of. I can’t wait to see the list, should be some good browsing.
May 30th, 2006 at 4:04 pm
Suspense is killing me!
May 30th, 2006 at 7:52 pm
I’ve been checking my feedreader, and it’s still not posted yet! We need the list! We’re getting impatient here!
No, it’s fine, I know you guys have a lot of work to do, going through 700 sites and all
May 30th, 2006 at 9:34 pm
Yeah I’m definately anticipating this. I’d like to see how many sites you had to go through… I cannot imagine.
May 31st, 2006 at 9:44 pm
I just realized I don’t think I ever saw a reference from the 9rules admin to my site - I hope I actually submitted my site properly that would really suck.
And I’ve gotten to the point where I am checking this page way toooo much.
June 1st, 2006 at 2:01 pm
Same here, I haven’t seen a referene from 9rules yet either. I hope mine went through ok.
June 1st, 2006 at 2:59 pm
Next to all the other things 9rules is good for (dancing, losing weight, reading great stuff, finding new sites, having a great community), one of the techniques worked to perfection is the creation of suspense. We have some true masters when it comes around to that.
I think there should be a podcast outlining the intricacies of getting 700 people (plus existing members) to ponder the definition of “next week” for … a looooong entire week (almost).
June 1st, 2006 at 3:05 pm
Yeah, I probably should have put int “but the week isn’t over” yet. Thought about it afterwards.
June 1st, 2006 at 5:11 pm
One more day before this week is over, will we see the list? Suspense is killing me, hehehe…
June 1st, 2006 at 6:17 pm
Actually it is two more days until the end of the week.
June 1st, 2006 at 8:14 pm
For a month I was waiting by my mailbox for my first Valleyschwag shipment. Now I wait in front of the computer screen waiting for the 9rules Round 4 list to be posted.
Forever I will wait.
June 1st, 2006 at 10:24 pm
Not to get off topic, but where are you located Chris? I’m still waiting for my Valleyschwag shipment.
June 1st, 2006 at 10:30 pm
The pageload count for the 9rules blog must be insanely off the charts by now.
June 1st, 2006 at 11:42 pm
I am located in Southern California which is just down the coast from the Valleyschwag folks. It seems like alot of the people who are closer to Valleyschwag already have recieved them.
June 2nd, 2006 at 8:37 am
and counting….

It went through.
