Round 4: May 17, 2006
Written by Scrivs on April 20, 2006
People are always asking when the next round of submissions for our Network will be and we have finally decided on the date and figured we would tell you now instead of our usual 7 day notice. Why so far away?
- We know a lot of sites are participating in the CSS Reboot and we believe their focus should be on putting together a quality site for their audience along with having enough time to work out whatever bugs they may come across.
- This also gives some warning to the sites that may have started recently that wish to push the schedule of their postings so that we have a good gauge of how their content will be in the future.
- Before then we like to think we will have the new features added to the Communities and Network so that gives us time to get situated and carry on momentum towards the Submission Round.
So if you are interested in joining the 9rules Network please remember that date as you will only have 24 hours to submit your site. Between now and then I will have a series of posts detailing what makes a great site (in my opinion) that should give some insight into what we look for when evaluating sites.
Look for a new Spanish submission round in the near future as well.

Looking forward to your posts outlining a good site

Although now that foogaming is in the community (Matt let me glean from his header code to develop my header and resulted in my blog looking similar to foogaming) I’m not sure if my design will keep me out of the community in spite of the content.
Scrivs, man, tell me straight, would I be better served to redesign for submission?
April 20th, 2006 at 7:08 pm
Must all blogs under consideration (of particular interest to me are personal blogs) be ultra good-looking? Because not everyone is as wicked a designer as Matt Brett
April 20th, 2006 at 8:09 pm
Ben: Not at all man. It would be nice for sure, but that stuff doesn’t enter my mind. Only when the design is so horrible that I can’t even read the stuff do I skip over it.
Good content is good content, but only if it legible.
April 20th, 2006 at 8:29 pm
Scrivs: Well, that eases my mind quite a bit. I’m really looking forward to submission.

I’ve been eagerly waiting for the announcement on when the next submission round would be (I missed all the ones before). I’ll be marking it on my calendar!
April 20th, 2006 at 8:54 pm
This is great news. I have that date on my calendar!
April 20th, 2006 at 9:25 pm
Can someone tell me how should I submit it. Some online form or through email. Or will 9rules release these details closer to the submission date. Tx
April 20th, 2006 at 9:36 pm
Riddle me this Scrivs, you mentioned to Ben design isn’t exactly a huge factor- What about standards? Everything on my site is functional, but it definetly couldn’t validate its way out of a paper bag.

So, I’ve read some stuff lately that blogs on 9rules can only be in one network. Is this true? Just asking as a member of Random Shapes who’s interested in submitting for 9rules, but I won’t waste your time if it’s a rule.

Scrivs, your thoughts on pride over on Oreo CEO were quite insightful. I guess those words set the standard for the next submission round. They made me look so hard at myself and what I had on my site that I became depressed

Is it possible to get an appraisal from existing members in advance of the acceptance date to improve the prospects of being accepted?

April 27th, 2006 at 1:33 pm
Just curious, is there a date set for the next round besides May 17th? From the moment I got my site off the ground I haven’t given the layout much thought, so would be nice to have a date for the next round, if there will be one.
April 27th, 2006 at 2:29 pm
Chris: Sorry I don’t have an answer to that, it was hard enough nailing down the date for Round 4 and asking us for future rounds before the current one has even taken place is pretty much impossible
April 27th, 2006 at 2:33 pm
Thanks for the quick reply Scrivs, I figured it would be impossible to set a future date for something that hasn’t even occured yet. Perhaps I can get a solid design out the door in two weeks and make try for this round, thanks for the reply.
