9rules Blog Network Dance Challenge

Written by Scrivs on March 29, 2006

If you missed it, last week was b5media’s 6 month anniversary and while I didn’t congratulate them at the time, I figured it’s never too late to say congrats so I am saying it now. More interesting though is the conversation that happens in the comments between Jason Calacanis, Jeremy Wright and Darren Rowse. Calacanis believes you must measure success with numbers, while Jeremy and Darren feel otherwise. What do we think? Well, instead of writing about it Mike and I decided to show you. Introducing our first ever vidcast:

The 9rules Blog Network Dance Challenge.

Now I call ourselves a blog network in the vidcast for the sake of argument although we don’t feel we fit into that category. In any case, Mike and I are tempted to make this a weekly thing depending on how well this turns out. Sorry for the sound on Mike’s side, this was impromptu and the settings were a bit messed up. Let us know what you think and also if you think any other blog network out there (hell any other company) stands a chance against our nasty dance skills.

Doing The Architect

And yes, this is the kind of stuff we do all day if you must know…

  1. Greg Says:

Mike I don’t know why you bother with web design. You’re true calling is to be a fly girl, uh, fly guy.

  2. karmatosed Says:

Now that is something to get rid of those mid week blues. I didn’t get it was dancing until mid way through though… cos I am english and there were no handbags or little fish / big fish hand movements…..

  3. Devin Says:

LOL, nothing says ‘hump day’ like… well… that. I’m going to archive that for the IPO days.

  4. Justin Palmer Says:

haha! This made my day. Mike, I like your dance style. You look like you were taking measurements and counting numbers. Maybe you can patent it as “The Architect”?

  5. David Barrett Says:

I vote “Bow Wow (That’s My Name)” by Bow Wow for the next track. If anyone can bust a move to that aural disaster, it’s Rundle and Scrivs.

  6. Lo-Fi Tribe » Blog Archive » 9rules Network Dance Challenge Says:

  7. Chad Says:

Hahahahaha! Sooo many talents Rundle… You should have your own slogan. I loved it! Keep on entertaining my friend :-)

  8. KarmaDude Says:

Hahaha…reminded me of the The Dormitory Boys. The contrast between the two of you rocks!

  9. Jeremy Wright Says:

    Awwww, we luvvvsss y’allll ;-)

  10. Aaron Says:

Oh Lord. I once had respect for you guys…. :p

  11. Jesse Says:

It takes a very secure person to do that

  12. Matt Brett Says:

Oh shit, that was pure gold! Made my afternoon!

  13. Eddie Sowden Says:

I can honestly say I have never seen someone use headphones as a prop while dancing before. Thoes were some crazy moves you were pulling there.

Seeing as no other network will ever beat you guys. How about an Inter-network dance off? When will everyone else in the network submit there dances for the vote then?

  14. Jesse Says:

Seeing as no other network will ever beat you guys

    Not so fast

  15. Scrivs Says:

    All challengers accepted.

  16. Jeremy Wright Says:

It’s not like you gave us any notice :p

  17. Scrivs Says:

Hell, we didn’t give ourselves any notice, hence some of the dancing.

  18. Josue Salazar Says:

I have to say, if we latinos had a blog network, we’d beat you guys even before the music started playing.

  19. Easton Ellsworth Says:

We surrender! (waving white flag) :)

  20. Scrivs Says:

Smart move Easton. Smart move. :)

  21. Mike Stickel Says:

    aaaahhaahaahaaha!! Just. Awesome.

Rundle: go white boy, go white boy, go!

Scrivs: Was that you I saw on Rize? I thought it was.

  22. Colin Devroe Says:

    I quit.

  23. Shai Coggins Says:

No one told me there was a contest. Are you sure you want to challenge us? ;-)

  24. Darren Says:

I’m in awe…. this has ‘Starsky and Hutch dance off’ all over it.

But do you know who you’re dealing with here?

I don’t have a webcam here but here’s a still shot taken just after my 1975 national disco dancing championship win

  25. Alvin Says:

    Haha hilarious!

  26. Christian Montoya Says:

    That was HOT.

I like the juxtaposition of Scrivs’ skills with Mike’s, well, remember Albert from Hitch? :)

The best part was when Scrivs said “BUST IT” and totally broke it down… I need to see him at a club or something, he probably draws a crowd.

  27. JBagley Says:

Breaking it down here at 9rules!

You know that from now on, any event / milestone / new feature / blog added to the network, you guys are going to have to dance… even better, any blog added, make them do their own vidcast dance. Now that would make 9rules unique!

  28. Katalina Jenkins Says:

Hmm. I thought the better T-Pain choice woulda been “I’m In Love Wit A Stripper” Still funny though.

  29. Carson Says:

I’ve never been so proud to be a 9ruler. *sniff*

  30. Peter Flaschner Says:

    Best use of broadband EVER!

You guys just made my morning.

  31. Thame Says:

    Not bad…

I’ve actually seen worse because people just go wild on that song when those huge base hits come in (at the scrivs “bust it” part).

    Let’s hear “Run It”.

  32. Kyle Bradshaw Says:

This is probably the funniest thing I’ve seen since Mike at that cabby’s cheese.

Where can I sign up for lessons?

  36. Zach Wilt Says:

Hilarious…I really like the gang sign!

  37. Sally Carson Says:

HAHA!! This is the best shit I’ve seen in a long time. Now I wish there had been dancing at SXSW! Let’s make it happen next year. Like I said, I need to hear Ready to Die when I get a couple beers in me.

Scrivs, I guess I got an false first impression of you in Austin, you were so low-key…must have been the codeine talking. But, you still had your game on — you know, touching your crotch while we were walking around in public and whatnot.

Methinks I need a webcam if this competition is underway…

  38. Brad Garland Says:

And Scriv wonders why he has only had up to a 6 month relationship. ;)

  39. Colin Cameron Says:

There has never been a better time to pull out the old LMFAO..

  40. Yannick Says:

HaHa that was too funny. You guys are great! So when’s the 9rules music video coming out?

  41. P.J. Onori Says:

    Wow… That was just bizarre.

    Funny, but bizarre…

  42. Stuart Maynard-Keene Says:

You guys are funny! But you have also confirmed by belief that Americans can’t dance :p

  43. Zac Nida Says:

I don’t think you guys will have any problems with competition.
