Great Conversation About What 9rules Offers Bloggers and Readers

Written by Mike Rundle on January 16, 2006

David Peralty at Phoenixrealm.com posted an entry that originally discussed our updated blog design, but then morphed into a great outsider’s view of 9rules. Paul and I both found the post via our obsessive Technorati-ing, and both tried to answer all David’s questions regarding 9rules and the benefit it offers our members, and readers.

The conversation that ensued in the comments is probably the most that Paul and I have talked about the benefits of membership, ever, so I’d definitely suggest giving it a read if you’re interested. Warning: my comments tend to be really long-winded :)

“The new design takes the blog in line with the design of the rest of the site, which leads me to believe the 9rules Network is ready to take its next step.” — David Peralty

Definitely check out the whole thing at David’s blog.

Excellent read, I have always viewed the 9rules network as a bar up the ladder as to say a goal not only to attain inclusion but to reach a new height in quality on sites as my own, bettering the visitors experience.

Although i have not made it onto the network yet it still is nice to know i have a goal to reach for.

I am actually more curious on the aspects of the ad network. For one, I noticed that some 9rules network members are also members of other blog networks. How does this fit into the plan of servicing member blogs by means of an ad network? I just feel that there could posisbly be some conflicts there later on and will you be requiring exclusivity once that sets in?

Despite the lengthy responses from 9rules at the original poster’s site, I didn’t see an answer to his question regarding pornography. Is 9rules going to make clear its stance on this issue?

Please don’t resort to porn to make money! In the Web business model, porn is the avenue of last resort. Reading what you guys have written, it seems that 9rules is about changing the Web and doing something meaningful.

[And to all you kids out there, please consider the legacy you want to leave the world. Do you really want to look back at the end of your life and see that your major contribution to the world was pimping sleazy websites?]

    Hey Mike,

9rules will always be clear of pornography. It should be the type of site you can view at work although your boss might not want you to view it at work because then you wouldn’t be getting any work done.

[...] I wanted to note something else in this post though. You would think that a post on the 9rules blog would have brough massive amounts of traffic to this site, as there are probably thousands if not tens of thousands of people reading the 9rules blog on a daily basis, yet Newsvine, currently invite only as well, has been creating almost two times the traffic in comparison. I thought that was really interesting. [...]
