Round 3 Is Open
Written by Scrivs on November 13, 2005
The time has come for English site owners to submit their sites for a chance to enter the 9rules Network. Even after 6 months of existence we still are seeing a lot of questions with regards to what the purpose of the Network is. This year has seen an explosion in blog networks and with AOL purchasing WIN everyone seems to be turning their eyes towards us and wondering what the catch is? What evil things do we force our members to do?
The answer is simple and we never try to hide our intentions. We simply want to highlight the best content around the web and help out those people who have a passion for a topic and a love for their sites. Our Member’s Agreement has always been up for everybody to see and their is no fine print behind it. It is what it is.
But what do you get out of joining the Network? You will get a little bit more traffic. This might lead to a little bit more money if you have ads on your site. What you really get though is the ability to interact with a lot of the top minds on the web in the forums. People have gotten jobs, done freelance work, collaborated on projects, made new lunchmates and etc.
And for what? Agreeing to the Member’s Agreement and placing a button on your site.
Here is something I wrote last week covering what we are looking for in a site, so best of luck to everyone who submits their sites. If you are accepted into the Network you will know by November 30.

You get friends.

Paul - I actually thought you’d be the first to submit, but it looks like you’re the 3rd or 4th

Submitted! I’m very excited about this — I’ve been looking forward to it for a while.

I’m in … and now holding my breath! I’ve been looking forward to this for a while too.
“But what do you get out of joining the Network?”
An increasingly recognizable logo that announces your quality content to the blogging world!”

I have been trying to submit something (not this site, the other one).. but it’s not working for me. Now what?
November 14th, 2005 at 3:01 am
I honestly thought, I had commented here already. Like Jason, the best thing I can say is good luck to everyone! And to all a good night.

HART: Not sure what happened for you, but your submission has been counted properly. Did you get any type of error message?

I’m curious, why are there two topics for this one event? (The title to this entry is a different entry than the “Read More” link on the home page).

Colin .. thanks for letting me know. Nothing happened when I clicked the Submit .. the screen didn’t even shake, and all the text remained present in the field. I use I.E. but also tried it in firefox. Hope I’m not the only one confused about this. My wife was playing Sims2 all day - I should have rebooted perhaps?
Anyway- ditto to all, re luck and all that.

HART: Congratulations on being the only person to visit 9rules.com using Internet Explorer. Are you one of those guys that still has bell bottoms and drives a VW van? Kidding.
IE works for me as does Firefox, Safari, Opera, Omni-Web, Camino and about 3 other browsers I’ve tried.
I’ll chock it up to the fact that we’re getting several submissions per minute and triple the visitors as we typically due per minute.

I submitted my site and now I’m playing the nervous waiting game.

erm.. what’s wrong with Bell Bottoms? You must not have a little pet dog… Wide leg pants are great for them - they can slip inside them while giving you a foot massage. :p

PS.. re; I.E. at least I don’t do what TOM does on the first entry http://nominoc.com/ and prohibit internet explorer visitors .. My stats still says 98.7% of my visitors use I.E. His probably says - 0% … but, to quote Homer Simpson … “Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. 14% of people know that.” .. so all in all it doesn’t prove anything

Chiming in to say good luck to everyone as well

Colin: Perhaps HART was having trouble with the sumission form because the submit acknowledgement is difficult to recognize. I had a few seconds of confusion myself and clicked the submit button twice because the acknowledgement didn’t stand out very well. Just a suggestion.

I think i’ve submitted, but reading the comments now, it may have done it thrice! I tried twice in Firefox, and nothing appeared to happen, then once in the old backup IE… sorry if that clogs up your thingumyjigs.
November 14th, 2005 at 10:54 am
Steve, that happened to me too.
I submitted twice because of that.
My apologies to 9 Rules for that too.
LOL

Round 3 applicant won’t hear until a week or two right?
November 14th, 2005 at 6:47 pm
Paul: “by November 30,” according to the post. It sounds like hearing about your acceptance sooner than that is also a possibility.

I’m browsing though previous posts to look at what previous submission rounds look like. It looks like the night college application are due!
Oh well I guess that’s to be expected. Looking forward to round 4!
