Well if this is the future, you better give me back me $2 dollars. A new car is slated to be in production in about a year and it's name is Aptera. It looks like a UFO designed in the 1960s for a sci-fi flick, and technically it's a motorcycle because of the three-wheel layout. The site says it's safe but that thing looks about as safe as riding around in an egg-shell. Scope a video:

Well, it's certainly one for the books.
/Strangely, I like it, at least in that cheesy 60's sci-fi movie prop sort of way. Would certainly get you some looks.

I actually think it doesn't look that bad. Almost cool, actually. But what the hell is up with the noise?

Yeah, the noise coming from that thing does not make me think 'cool car' at all.

$2 doesn't buy much these days.
I've seen little 3-wheeled golf cartesque things tooling around on roads where the potholes are bigger than they are, but I've never seen one in an accident! That must mean something, right?

Actually, -1 Year Ago into the future there's going to a short rift in the time-space continuum again. You could use that to go back and buy the tickets.

The first one looks like one of those solar powered cars. The tesla car is definitely a good idea; we need more ideas like that.

Is that fair? Pit anything against an SUV, unless it's another SUV there will be pretty crappy consequences. Good design is part of it, but it's really comes down to momentum in the end. If you have 5000 pounds coming at you at speed and you're in something slighter, or without a mile of crumple zones, you're in trouble.
