There are FM transmitters but they suck and don't allow you to control your music with your car stereo.
I've got a newish Taurus with a Cd changer hookup in the trunk, I'd love to use that connection to hook my iPod straight to my care stereo.
I've seen cables and things out there which allow you to do it but there's no reviews or feedback.
Has anyone done this? What have you used?

I am actually thinking about doing that this summer at some point. If your stereo has an 'Aux' button in your car, then you might have an input for another component in the back of your radio. If so, then a "Y" cable would only cost a few bucks.
I had an FM transmitter but the sound quality was terrible so that was a complete waste of $50.

I hardwired my IPod to my car about a year and a half ago. It was very easy to do with the right stereo head unit. The Pioneer one I picked out came IPod compatible, and all I needed to do was buy their IPod hookup and I was all set. Of course, once you have the hookup, you probably want to hide the wires which is still a breeze if you know what you are doing. Overall: Pioneer Head Unit- $160, IPod Hookup- $100 I believe. I'm sure the price has gone down since. The sound quality is great, and it works fine with my 2 15" Rockford subs.

Ah, right on.
My plan is to hook it up in the trunk since I've got the cables back there, then I can run a small cable through my back seats (they flip down) and under the driver's seat to me. :)
Punknoodles, have a link to what you used, or something similar?

Pioneer Ipod Adapter
There you go. I am not sure if it's exactly the same one I have but it looks like it. Much cheaper now too. :(

Isn't that how things always go? I saw the 19" CRT I've owned for ... 7 years? I think now in a thrift store for $15 the other day. It was depressing the hundreds I paid for it back in the day.

I know, I expected it. I'm not upset about it because my car actually got stolen on New Year's Eve while I was in NYC. They took my sound system, but the insurance company replaced it with one that was about $1500 better than what I started with.

My pioneer has a set of Aux RCA in jacks in the rear. So I've just got a cable coming out of the dash my ipod goes into. Great quality.
