Hello Everybody!
I'm currently in the market to purchase myself a new truck. A web designer with a truck you ask? Trucks are bad ass..
Anyway, I think I've fallen in love with the Chevy Silverado SS (sports series). It has a friggen Corvette engine in it! But The Chevrolet Avalanche, and Ford F150 have really caught my eye..
Any suggestions? Maybe some of you own one of these?

Not to be a tree-hugging liberal, but while they may be badass, they're usually terrible for the environment (whether gas or diesel). Would you consider a hybrid? I don't know if they make hybrid pickups yet, but they definitely have a few hybrid SUVs out there!
If that doesn't float your boat, though, I'd suggest you grab a copy of April's Consumer Reports (I think that's the Car Edition?). They extensively test and review hundreds of models, breaking down their reliability, handling, previous customer reviews, and so much more. Always been indispensable for buying a car.
Good luck!

There are a couple of hybrid pickups. Oh, and by the way, if you drive a pickup or an SUV, just know that a lot of people think that that means you're making up for the lack of size somewhere else...just thought I'd throw that in there.
As for the hybrid pickups...I believe that the Chevy Silverado comes in a hybrid flavor, as well as the GMC Sierra.

Not to be a goosestepping conservative but the plants that manufacture the materials needed to produce the beloved hybrid cause multitudes more damage to the Earth than a Truck driving down the street would.
The Prius itself gets the nickel needed to run its battery from a plant in Ontario.
This plant has caused so much damage to its surroundings that NASA uses it's "moon like surface" to test its et vehicles.
Personally, I'd go with a Ford SuperDuty myself... I can't buy Chevy vehicles.

I'm a VW-Audi enthusiast myself so as far as cargo-totin', I'm a big fan of the wagon. :)
But as far as trucks go, I'd say the Nissan Titan.

The reason I'm looking to buy a truck is: I have drove an Acura Integra for the past 4 years and I'm sick of driving a small car that sucks in the winter. It has no room!! A bunch of my friends have trucks and I have fallen in love.. the hybrid is out of the question that is just lame..
Mike was exactly right.. if your going to get a truck.. get a truck! amen brother!

I have drove an Acura
I have driven... (sorry, grammar is a peeve of mine)
I've never understood how, given the current state of hybrid tech... one could make a truck that does anything other than look good.
A truck is made the way it is because most people use it to haul stuff around. Putting a weak-ass hybrid engine in it is completely pointless to me...

One of the biggest construction companies here just switched all their trucks to hybrid. They haven't had any problems with it and haven't noticed any lack in performance either.

Well, I don't know too much about what they're putting into "work" type vehicles, I'm really only going off the fart cans they put into tiny cars ;)
All just assumptions on my part...
Personally, if I could have a car that smelled like taco's when I drove I'd buy it!

Americans can't build cars or trucks, buy a Land Rover Discovery 3.
ps: a truck is a big thing with a trailer on it usually weighs more than 10 tons.

Maybe where you come from :)
Truck is short for "pickup truck" and we CAN make decent trucks.
I agree though that American made cars and most light trucks suck bad... something we need to fix.

"Americans can't build cars or trucks, buy a Land Rover Discovery 3.
Now I'll be honest and say that it's been a while since I've owned a new American car. My last one was a 1990 Chevy Beretta and it was a steaming pile.
What I have found is an appreciation for American cars from the 1950 - 1960's. They are solid, dependable, stylish, and in my case the gas mileage is the same as our other car, a Mitsubishi Montero.
We lost our way at some point because the new American cars are nothing like our Large Marge.

For what it is worth joey, I own a 1998 Toyota Tacoma and it's probably the best thing I ever bought. It's not a beast of a truck by any means, the Tundra's little brother, but it's about the most reliable thing I own. It spent the majority of its life in New England, which isn't kind to automobiles, and I haven't had any major problems with it yet. Thought I'd throw a plug down.

No problem joey. F150's are nice. I know when I'm thinking of buying something new, gadget, gizmo, car, I get that scent of want in my nose and it's tough as hell to shake out. Take your time with it and love to hear what you end up rolling with.

Top Gear does some really great reviews. And is even more amusing when they try to destroy vehicles. As stated, ignore the anti-american sentiment. LOL

Get something you will enjoy. Although it killing me on gas, I love my F-150. I've loaded and carried tons of stuff over the past 4 years with it.
If you thinking of the F-150, you should be aware that the model will change next fall.
