It's not available on iTunes yet but if you're hankering for some new iPhone firmware action, you can download it directly from Apple. I'm not exactly sure what you do with this file once you've nabbed it but the key is not unzipping it once you've got it, you need the full file to do a restore.
Not much has been found yet, basically the update adds international support for new keyboard layouts and on-screen text and adds a battery status indicator inside of iTunes for when your iPhone is plugged in. The "bad news" is that this does indeed patch the TIFF exploit which allowed you to use jailbreakme.com to get access to your phone's innards, but people who have enough knowledge to do that will probably not automatically download the v1.1.2 update since it was assumed Apple would patch the exploit hole very soon. I have jailbroken my phone and won't be updating to the v1.1.2 firmware since it will disable my third-party applications and custom theme I put together, shown below:

All that work though is really pointless. My hat is off to the people who can do this kind of thing, but it's all for not in February when Apple opens up the platform anyhow. If Apple were smart, they'd reach out to every single one of the people who've taken the time to already do the work and give them some incentive to develop officially.

That is one damn sexy interface you've created. How did you achieve that?
I really with the iPhone would be introduced in Japan. Sure is taking too long!

Jark, it's a theme I put together for summerboard which is a third-party app that lets you modify the SpringBoard application that is basically your iPhone home screen. I'd release it but the icons I modified are part of a free download from IconFactory that was meant for personal usage only, and the background was created by designer Adam Betts and I didn't want to infringe on anyone's copyrights. Just trying to play fair!
A 9rules theme would be neat though, and James, those themes your friend did are awesome!

Yeah my biggest gripe about the iPhone is the inability to select multiple email messages either for deletion or to mark them as read. I get so much spam across my email accounts that it's impossible to keep up, my iPhone Mail is perpetually filled up.
